1KG LEGO SUMO RULES

TEAMS
  1. Each team should nominate up to 1 player on the field.
  2. The team is allowed to change players between matches. A team cannot change its player during a match.
  3. Team members must be 9-15 years old.
  4. Each team is allowed to have only one robot. It is strictly forbidden to change robots during the competition.
  5. Teams are not allowed to share the same robot.
  6. Each team consist of 2 to 5 players
  1. The Robot must be autonomous.
  2. Its maximum dimensions must be 20 cm Width x 20 cm Length and its mass up to 1 kg.
  3. To confirm specifications, the Robot will be weighed and must fit into a control box.
  4. The Robot must not damage the field.
  5. The Robot must have a start and stop button.
  6. For Lego Robot only one microprocessor, 4 motors and 4 sensors are allowed.
  7. Lego robots must be made only with Lego products and the use of any other material is prohibited.
  8. Lego Athletes should only use batteries or cells as recommended by LEGO, preferably rechargeable.
  9. Robots should not use Pullback motors.
  10. Any other kits with the same specs should ask the technical support to take an approve before use like (VEX, Zmrobo, etc…)
  1. The initial technical inspection will take place before matches,
  2. Technical inspection includes inspection of the robot according to the conditions described above. If it does not meet the specifications, it will not be allowed to compete and will be automatically disqualified from the event.
  3. If a team is not in place during the technical inspection, this team will automatically disqualified from the match.
  1. The field is round with a diameter of 80 cm.
  2. The black area is 75 cm and it has a 2.5cm thick white painted frame around the perimeterThe Field is rectangular with dimensions of 240x 120 cm

GENERAL RULES

Match
  1. Each match includes 3 rounds each round lasting one (1) minute.
  2. During a match, time runs continuously without stopping the clock at all.
WIN
  • When one of the two Robot knocks the other out of the arena.
TIE
  • If neither Robot Athlete manages to knock the other off the track during the match.
DEFEAT
  • If a player touches their Robot during a match. Victory will be given to the opponent Robot.
Placing Robots
  1. The Referee places a cardboard between the Robots in the center of the field.
  2. Players place their Robot wherever they want in their half of field.
  3. The Referee signals the players to press the Start button, he raises the cardboard.
  4. Robots should not start before 5 seconds from start of the referee.
POINTS

For the Group matches:

  1. 3 points will be awarded for each win.
  2. 1 point will be awarded for each tie.
  3. For each defeat 0 points will be given.
    – The Robot Athlete with the most points from each Group advances to the quarterfinals.
    – If 2 or more Robot Athletes have the same points then the Robot Athlete with the fewest losses moves on to the next phase.
    – If there is still a tie then the Referee announces a knockout match.The winner of the match qualified to the next stage
Disqualify a team:
  1. If the team’s robot does not comply with the requirements specified in the rules.
  2. If the player behaves in an inappropriate or indecent manner, curses or provokes or verbally or otherwise attacks the opponent or the referees.
  3. If the player damages the opponent.
  4. If it is detected that the robot does not work autonomously but with remote control, bluetooth, wifi etc.
What is allowed and what not allowed:

Allowed:
1.The extension of the Robot after the start of the match
Not allowed:

  1. Robots to use parts that can harm their opponents.
  2. The use of adhesives (cleaning wheels with tapes: welding, electrical, packaging which may leave glue on the wheels or suction cup), to increase adhesion.
  3. Devices to increase downward force such as vacuum pumps and magnets.
  4. Breaking the Robot into pieces during the match to deceive the opponent.
  5. The use of thread, twine, string or any kind of rope in the construction of the robot in order to avoid being trapped in the movement of the opponent.
  6. Remote control.
  7. The robot be connected (bluetooth, wifi, etc.), to a computer, phone and any other electronic device during the race. In such a case the team will be
    permanently banned and the referee will award victory to the opposing team.
  8. The use of pneumatics.
  9. The use of pullback engines
  10. The blade or front surface on Lego Athletes to be white.
  11. The use of any device or material that may prevent a Robot sensors from detecting the opponent or intentionally interfere / block their use.
