SMART CONSTRUCTION

1-INTRODUCTION

Robotics is revolutionizing the construction industry by enhancing safety, efficiency, and productivity. Robots can perform tasks that are dangerous or repetitive for humans, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries. They can also work tirelessly and with precision, leading to faster project completion and fewer errors. Additionally, robotics can help address the industry’s labor shortage by automating tasks and freeing up human workers for more complex and skilled roles.

2-TEAM FORMAT

  1. Each team should nominate up to 1 player on the field.
  2. The team is allowed to change players between matches.
  3. The competition is divided into 2 age categories :
-Elementary Team members must be 6-10 years old.
-Junior Team members must be 10-15 years old.
  4. Each team is allowed to have only one robot.
  5. Each team consist of 2 to 5 players

3-GROUND FIELD

4- GAME OBJECT POSITIONING

Building blocks:

Building blocks are stacked to build the highest tower, there are 4 blocks of each Level block on the “Building equipment area”

Level 1 : 4 pieces of 2×4 brick – with (2 points each)

Level 2 : 2 pieces of 2×4 brick , 1 piece of 2×6 brick ,
2 pieces of 1×4 brick – with (4 points each)

Level 3 : 4 pieces of 2×4 brick , 1 piece of 2×6 brick – with (6 points each)

Field workers:

Field workers are placed on the working site , they should stay upright
knocking them result in penalty.
There are total of 3 workers placed on their site.

Field worker is : 2 pieces of 1×2 brick , 3 pieces of 2×2 brick ,
2 pieces of 2×4 brick

Heavy duty machine:
Heavy duty machine is placed in the Heavy duty area, it should
stay upright, knocking it result in penalty

Heavy duty machine is : 1 piece of 6×8 plate ,
4 pieces of 2×2 round brick, 4 pieces of 10 module axel

Rooftop :
Rooftop is placed on the heavy duty machine to complete the
construction process
Rooftop is : 8 pieces of 2×2 brick, 2 pieces of 4×6 plate , 3 pieces of
2×4 plate , 1 pieces of 2×6 plate

Rooftop :
Rooftop is placed on the heavy duty machine to complete the
construction process
Rooftop is : 8 pieces of 2×2 brick, 2 pieces of 4×6 plate , 3 pieces of
2×4 plate , 1 pieces of 2×6 plate

5- ROBOT MISSION

Tower construction:
A manually controlled robot should take the building blocks from the building equipment area to the construction area , and stacking the blocks on each other to build the tower , the robot engineer can build one high tower inside the white square or two towers inside the two white square using the blocks provided by the competition.

Heavy duty construction:
The robot engineer should pick up the roof top from the game field located on the yellow cone and put it on the heavy duty construction machine

Field workers:
The robot engineer should keep the workers safe from any harm

6- PLAYGROUND SETUP

Tower construction:

  • The tower is considered Totally in the zone if the base of the tower do not exceed theNcentre black area
  • The tower is considered partially in the zone if the base of the tower touch the outer white area

Heavy duty construction:

  • The full score is granted for the heavy duty machine after putting the rooftop on the machine in a horizontal position and the total construction ( the machine + the rooftop ) do not exceed the black area
  • The construction is considered partially in if the total construction touch the outer white area

Field workers:

  • No point are granted for keeping the Field workers safe
  • Allowed to touch the workers and displace them
  • Penalty will be applied if the worker is knocked down

7- GAME CONDUCT

  1. 2 Teams will play against each other during 2:30 minutes match
  2. Match will start at the judge whistle , the pilot is allowed to touch the robot only in the start area, the robot can take the blocks from the Building
equipment or the pilot can load the blocks manually to the robot, only when the robot is in the starting area
  3. (the pilot is not allowed to load the blocks manually to the robot if the robot is out of the starting area)
  4. The robot engineer should take the blocks from the designated area to the construction area and stack them one above the other to form the highest Tower
  5. The robot engineer can build only one tower using the blocks or two towers both should be build inside the white square
  6. The robot engineer should take the rooftop from the playing field (the pilot cannot touch the roof top ) and put it on the heavy duty machine
  7. Teams can have one pilot (robot controller) and one co-pilot (that can load the blocks to the robot ) or only one pilot to do the two tasks

8- TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

  1. The robot must be remotely controlled using any type of controlling system
  2. Its maximum dimensions must be 20 cm Width x 20 cm Length, unlimited height and its mass up to 1 kg. The measuring box will have 2 mm
    tolerance from every side
  3. The robot must be built using only Lego parts, the only exception is using rubber band
  4. Its not allowed to change the processor of the robot during the match or any kind of pieces , any fallen pieces will stay on the field , the pilot can
take them or re- attach them to the robot if the fallen pieces and the robot are brought back to the start area
  5. It is not allowed to take blocks from the other team nor throwing the block onto the other half of the field
  6. The robots will be weighted and measured before every match
  7. Only one robot is allowed for each team

9- SCORING

Rooftop score

– – Putting the roof top on the heavy duty machine while the heavy duty machine is in the designated square ( 20 Points)
– – Putting the roof top on the heavy duty machine while the heavy duty machine partially touching the designated square (10 Points )
– – knocking out the heavy duty machine (0 Points)

Field workers
– – Pushing the field worker is allowed with no points penalty
– – Knocking out the field worker (- 5 point/each)

Tower scoring

– – Teams are awarded score for each block they use :

For each Level 1 block the team is
awarded (2 points ) For each Level 2 block the team is
awarded (4 points ) For each Level 3 block the team is
awarded (6 points )
